Originally nicknamed T.I.P., the rapper was born Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., on September 25, 1980, in Atlanta, Georgia. His rapping potential was recognized when the Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment executive signed him to the label. To show respect towards his fellow label rapper, Q-Tip, he went by TI.
