Birdman: The Story

Known by his stage name Birdman, Bryan Christopher Williams was born on February 13, 1969, in New Orleans. He grew up in the notorious Magnolia Projects in the third Ward Orleans. During his teenage years, he was arrested for robberies and drug possession several times. Birdman’s net worth didn’t look at a bright future, but he was determined to make something of himself.

In 1998, Birdman – who went by the nickname Baby at the time – and DJ Mannie Fresh formed the duo Big Tymers that debuted with the album ‘How Ya Luv That?’. Next, they released ‘I Got That Work’ and ‘Hood Rich’. The latter was certified platinum, even though the singles from both albums weren’t a commercial success. ‘Big Money Heavyweight’ came in 2003 and went on to become certified gold. After the duo parted ways, the rapper changed his stage name into Birdman and continued dominating the rap world. The compilation noted appearances from members of  Cash Money Records and Young Money Entertainment like Meek Mill, French Montana, R Kelly, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, and Future. In 2012, Birdman’s net worth was estimated at $125 million, and in the next year, he was ranked as the fifth highest-earning hip-hop artist, pocketing $21 million.

Birdman has had valuable fundraising efforts throughout his career. At Swizz Beats’ annual Bronx Charter School For The Arts Fundraiser, the rapper donated $50,000. He also hosts an annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway each year to benefit residents of New Orleans. He also provides blood pressure, dental, and diabetes screenings and eye exams as well. In 2014, he extended the event to New York City and Miami.
