Kobe Bryant will forever be a staple in the basketball world. He is one of the most prolific players ever to take the court. He is a sure lock for the Hall of Fame, but what he said last week may surprise you. The superstar said in an interview, “Fast forward 20 years from now: If basketball is the best thing I’ve done in my life, then I’ve failed,” Bryant said. “It’s a very simple mission, very simple quest, very simple goal. These next 20 years need to be better than the previous 20. It’s as simple as that and that is what drives me.”

“If basketball is the best thing I’ve done in my life, then I’ve failed”

Now, this drive and ambition is not out of character for Bryant, who has been named on lists of the world’s most influential people by major publications like Complex and Time. Kobe lives out the success principle of visualization. He puts it like this, “When you make a choice and say ‘come hell and high water, I am going to be this,’ then you should not be surprised when you are that. It should not be something that feels intoxicating or out of character because you have seen this moment for so long that … when that moment comes, of course it is here because it been here the whole time because it has been [in your mind] the whole time”. We have no doubt that Kobe will accomplish incredibly lofty feats in the future. If you would like to read about Kobe Bryant’s net worth, you can see more here. Bonus Kobe quote: “There’s a choice that we have to make as people, as individuals. If you want to be great at something there is a choice you have to make. We can all be masters at our craft, but you have to make a choice. What I mean by that is there are inherent sacrifices that come along with that, family time, hanging out with your friends, being a great friend, being a great son, nephew, whatever the case may be. There are sacrifices that come along with making that decision.”
